A new scenario for electric distribution networks
Comprehensive control of the facilities
Power grids are undergoing a profound transformation driven by the integration of renewable energy sources, distributed generation, and the growth of energy demand.
The introduction of new generation sources, such as photovoltaic power generation, is changing the traditional behavior of distribution networks and increasing the complexity of their management.
In this context, electricity companies need to have more accurate information about the operation of their infrastructures to ensure the quality of the supply, improve its reliability, and optimize resources.
The Advanced low-voltage monitoring (SABT) It allows for progress towards smarter networks through the monitoring of the transformation centers and their distribution lines.
The challenge:
to know what happens in low-voltage networks
Transformation centers play a fundamental role in electric distribution by adapting the energy from medium to low voltage for its supply to consumers.
However, the increase in distributed generation and the variability of loads pose new challenges: imbalances between phases, overloads, changes in electrical quality, and increased maintenance needs.
To address these challenges, distributors need to know the electrical behavior of their installations and have reliable data to detect anomalies and act more efficiently.

Supervise to anticipate

Advanced monitoring systems allow the acquisition of electrical information on the low-voltage side of the transformer and on the outputs of the distribution lines.
The continuous monitoring of these points provides information for:
- Monitoring loads: Knowing the state of the transformer and the lines, identifying overloads and imbalances between phases.
- Improving the quality of the supply: analyze the electrical parameters and detect deviations or abnormal conditions.
- Optimizing maintenance: identify possible incidents and facilitate the planning of preventive interventions.
- Improving network management: Having information to evaluate its functioning and support decision-making.
Advanced monitoring thus enables the transition to a more proactive management of electrical infrastructures, contributing to improving the reliability and efficiency of distribution networks.

SACI technology applied to advanced low-voltage monitoring
SACI develops measurement, acquisition, and data concentration solutions for advanced monitoring of transformation centers and low-voltage networks. These solutions allow collecting information about the electrical behavior of the installations and transmitting it to the control centers of the distribution companies, facilitating their remote monitoring.
SBT-CDS: data monitoring and concentration
The SBT-CDS constitutes the main element of the SACI's advanced low-voltage monitoring solution.
This data concentrator collects, processes, and transmits the information from the measurement devices installed in the transformation center, centralizing the main electrical magnitudes and data related to the network quality.
The information is transmitted to the distributor's control center, allowing the operator to know the operating conditions of the installation and detect possible anomalies.
The solution can be adapted to the technical and communication specifications established by each electric company.

Additional measurement and monitoring equipment
The advanced monitoring architecture is complemented by specific equipment for the acquisition of electrical parameters.
The SBT-TDM It allows monitoring the main magnitudes of a three-phase low-voltage network, while the SBT-VTN It monitors the voltage between the neutral and ground to identify possible abnormal conditions.
Together with the intensity transformers and other measurement elements, these devices allow for a detailed view of the electrical behavior of the substation.
